This article is part of Football FanCast’s Injury News series, which considers the impact of the latest updates on players’ fitness.
This week we were greeted with some great news as an online report live from Thorp Arch stated that Adam Forshaw has stepped up his recovery as he’s been going through some intense training drills in his quest to get back to full fitness.
“Even though hip problems are known to be notoriously troublesome, Forshaw was completing tough sprints as well as being put through some drills on the ball.” The report stated.
“Given how tricky hip injuries can be, Leeds staff surely wouldn’t be pushing Forshaw as hard as they were if he wasn’t close to returning to action.”

Having Forshaw back will undoubtedly be a huge boost for Leeds as Marcelo Bielsa hasn’t been coy about how much he rates the former Middlesbrough midfielder.
He’s previously stated that he combines the attacking abilities of Mateusz Klich and the defensive qualities of Kalvin Phillips.
It’d be understandable if Bielsa wanted to put him straight back into his starting XI, but he faces a massive dilemma if he is to slot him back in.
He’d most likely take the spot that Pablo Hernandez has been occupying in the midfield in recent weeks as Phillips has started every single game they’ve been available for this season. The only time he was absent was through suspension.
If Hernandez doesn’t have a spot in the centre of the park, then he may have his eyes on returning to the wing, but with Helder Costa’s recent resurgence it’s hard to argue that he should be dropped after contributing to two goals in his last three games.
Bielsa has to be very careful with how he treats Forshaw’s return.
He can’t justify dropping his back to back Player of the Year winner, but benching Costa after his recent good form could absolutely destroy his confidence.
It’s certainly a tricky scenario.
