It must be a Wenger thing.
Despite already possessing an arsenal of attacking options this season, the Gunners boss is repeatedly being linked with the continent’s best forwards, with Nabil Fekir being touted for a move to the Emirates during the January transfer window.
Finally, there appears to be a more sensible transfer rumour, with news in January that Arsenal were making enquiries into defensive midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.
There is good reason why the latter should sign with Arsenal – it would be the perfect homecoming present for a player who has endured spells with less well-resourced Premier League clubs like Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City in recent years.
The Frenchman – valued at £27m by transfermarkt.com – would also be a good answer to Arsenal’s defensive issues, and could partner with Granit Xhaka in forming the club’s first proper defensive midfield wall since Patrick Vieira and Ray Parlour in the early 2000’s.
Arsenal fans – what do you think? Is N’Zonzi the answer to the Gunners’ defensive malaise? Vote below…
