Everton’s U23s are unbeaten so far this season under the leadership of former first-team player and boss David Unsworth.
Thanks to a spirited comeback against Manchester City last week, the young Toffees have made it seven games without a loss, although they have only won three of those fixtures. However, there have been some young stars who have caught the attention in the midst of this impressive run.
One of these names is Anthony Gordon. The forward, who joined the Finch Farm ranks in 2012, has bagged five goals in five games in the Premier League 2, whilst netting one goal in his sole appearance in the EFL Trophy this campaign.
Gordon is starting to look like a much-needed addition to the first-team, with Marco Silva’s men scoring just six times in seven games, whilst Moise Kean has failed to bag for his new side, just as Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to struggle with just two Premier League goals so far.
Gordon’s manager Unsworth told the Liverpool Echo, “Anthony plays a nine, a 10 and can play off the sides. I think modern day strikers, for young players, it’s great to have that flexibility because it might give him an earlier opportunity in the first-team.”
And here is what the fans have had to see about his recent form…
