West Ham been knocked back in their attempts to sign Kevin Mirrallas on loan from Everton on Deadline Day.The Hammers’ torrid start to the new season, losing all three of their opening Premier League games, has led to the club seemingly going in to Deadline Day desperate to reinforce their squad. And it seems they’ve already made early moves on Thursday to do just that, according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol.
The reporter revealed on Thursday morning that Everton had rejected West Ham’s loan move for the winger.
Slaven Bilic has sanctioned the sales of a number of wingers this summer and is now unsurprisingly looking to replace them, albeit extremely late in the window. Robert Snodgrass and Sofiane Feghouli have both left the club already while Gokhan Tore’s loan spell from Besiktas was expectedly not made permanent.
Another winger would certainly strengthen West Ham this season and targeting an experienced Premier League player like Kevin Mirallas – valued at £11.7m by transfermarkt.com – does indeed make sense given the club’s recent failings in bringing in untested players from overseas in recent years.
