That Champions League defeat came either side of a game that saw City collapse from the brink of a historic title win against rivals Manchester United, snatching a 3-2 defeat from the jaws of a 2-0 half-time stroll.
That game at the Etihad looked like one where Jose Mourinho got his edge back and Duncan Castles, close ally of the former Inter manager, has sensed blood and stuck the boot in.
